The Resort of Vila Senhora da Rocha

Vila Senhora da Rocha is a mixture of villas and apartments set in a beautifully landscaped site overlooking the sea. There are three apartment blocks to the north of the site all with south facing terraces. The rest of the site is a mixture of villas and 2 storey apartments, all with sun terraces, in well maintained spacious gardens.

As you enter the resort there is a large car park immediately on the left, which is also the pickup point for the mini bus which makes regular trips to and from Armação de Pêra, (check with Reception for times).

Opposite the car park are the main offices and Reception where you will be welcomed by our friendly staff and also possibly by a shrill "Ola" from our parrots outside the entrance). Inside next to the Reception area is an area with local information and also a lending library. Outside Reception there is a payphone.

There are plenty of parking areas around the resort and there is a one way system in operation for safety.

Other Facilities

Mini Market - There is a well stocked mini market which caters for your everyday needs from morning rolls to evening wine.

Restaurant and Pool bar - Open for most of the day, the pool bar and restaurant serve meals overlooking the main pool and with views to the sea and the Church of Our Lady of the Rock on the peninsular

Swimming - We have 3 swimming pools (plus a toddlers' pool), one of which is heated and covered outside the main summer season. There are also 2 beaches from which to swim, the Vila Senhora beach reached by the steps down the cliff, and the Fisherman's beach the other side of the peninsular, which can be accessed from the road (or by the tunnel from the Vila senhora beach).

Tennis - There are 3 all weather tennis courts. Throughout the year the courts, rackets and balls are available to hire on a casual basis from Reception. We welcome tennis groups during the low season, when the weather here is usually ideal for tennis. Please let us know if a coach is required and we will arrange it.

Scuba Diving - For the main season, Scuba Tour will be running a diving school where, for a modest fee, you can learn and experience the basics of scuba diving through two introductory courses and then, if you enjoy that experience as we expect you to, and would like to take it further, you can enrol on more advanced courses which are internationally recognised. Scuba diving is available to all from the age of 10 upwards. For the more advanced courses you will need a medical certificate of fitness. Water Therapy/ Massage - Water Therapy sessions are held regularly in the covered pool under the supervision of Jorge Nunes, a trained water therapist and personal trainer. These sessions help ease strains on muscles and joints and may be supplemented with massage in our massage studio. This is ideal to assist in recuperation from sports injuries. Please check with reception for availability.

Walking - The Algarve is a beautiful place to walk with many walks close to Vila Senhora da Rocha. In fact, one that is mentioned in several of the books available on walks in the Algarve is one between Vila Senhora and Benagil, and in "Algarve Let's Walk" it quotes "To many this is the most picturesque stretch of coast in the whole Algarve". Although you are welcome to come and walk at any time, organised walks only take place during the low season. Please ask for details.

Fishing - Fishing along the Algarve is very popular with the Portuguese and you will regularly find locals fishing from the cliffs and beaches. Try this or if you wish to get involved in deep sea fishing then boats from Vilamoura or Portimao will offer you the opportunity.

Golf - Golf can be played the whole year round in the Algarve and Vila Senhora da Rocha has negotiated special green fees for guests at the beautiful 18 hole Salgados golf course. This is situated just beyond Armação de Pêra and makes much use of its closeness to the sea, with water being a major feature on the course. A handicap certificate is required.
